A SolidWorks Case Study
S&S Worldwide, Inc., the largest American manufacturer of roller coasters and amusement park rides, faced the challenge of designing extremely large, complex assemblies (a single train can contain ~8,000 components) while shortening design cycles, improving product quality, and reducing prototyping and field rework. To address this, S&S Worldwide selected SolidWorks and its SolidWorks 3D CAD software to replace their older Mechanical Desktop workflows.
Using SolidWorks, S&S Worldwide deployed 10 seats and leveraged large-assembly handling, advanced visualization, configuration, and collision/interference detection to catch issues in the model phase and visualize track/vehicle interactions without physical prototypes. SolidWorks enabled a 25% reduction in design cycle time, a 20% cut in development costs, a 25% improvement in product quality, and a 33% increase in market share while reducing field problems and prototyping needs.
