Case Study: J&J Design achieves faster design-to-manufacturing and fewer errors with SOLIDWORKS

A SolidWorks Case Study

Sailing into direct integration with boat-building customers using SOLIDWORKS Solutions

J&J Design, a Slovenian yacht and boat design firm founded in 1983, needed to work more closely with major boatbuilders and automate handoffs after a key customer required direct linkage to its SolidWorks PDM vault. To meet that challenge, J&J Design adopted SolidWorks solutions — SOLIDWORKS Standard, SOLIDWORKS Premium, SOLIDWORKS Electrical Schematics Professional, and SOLIDWORKS PDM Professional — to standardize CAD, electrical design, analysis, and product data management.

SolidWorks enabled direct integration with the customer’s PDM vault and automated design-to-manufacturing workflows, so released files go straight to CNC milling and reduce file translation. The results: faster design-to-manufacturing cycles, fewer design errors and rework, improved revision control and electrical schematics, and rapid team growth (from 4 to about 30 engineers), demonstrating clear, measurable efficiency gains.
