Revolutionizing Hydration Product Development With SolidWorks Solutions

CamelBak Products, LLC, the leading hydration brand known for its reservoir backpacks, needed to expand into bottled, filtration, and military hydration markets while boosting product innovation, durability, and development efficiency. To meet these challenges, CamelBak adopted SolidWorks design and simulation tools — including SOLIDWORKS Premium, SOLIDWORKS Simulation Professional, and SOLIDWORKS PDM Professional — to support advanced surfacing, motion studies, FEA, and product data management.

Using SolidWorks, CamelBak implemented surfacing and motion analysis, rapid prototyping, and simulation workflows that cut prototype cycles dramatically (prototyping is 10–20× faster) and reduced design iterations (e.g., narrowing 30 designs to 3–4 for the Forge mug), enabled the first BPA-free bottle, secured a patent for the Forge trigger, and supported its lifetime “GOT YOUR BAK” guarantee — shortening time-to-market and improving durability and aesthetics.
