A SolidWorks Case Study
Adlens faced a common but acute problem: people stranded without corrective lenses when contacts are lost or frames break, and broader needs for adjustable vision solutions for those with fluctuating vision or limited access to eye care. To tackle this, Adlens worked with SolidWorks, using SolidWorks and SolidWorks Plastics in their R&D to develop adjustable eyewear concepts that move beyond static lens designs.
Using SolidWorks tools, Adlens engineered Alvarez sliding polycarbonate plates and fluid‑injection lens mechanisms that let wearers self‑adjust prescription strength on the fly. The result is portable, optometrist‑style adjustment for users, a practical option for diabetic/cataract patients and people in developing regions, and a business model with social impact — Adlens also donates a second pair when customers buy certain frames — all enabled by SolidWorks‑driven design and prototyping.
