Ratcheting up radar reliability with SolidWorks Simulation Premium

Reutech Radar Systems, a global radar provider to customers including the South African National Defence Force, needed to ensure reliable performance of complex radar systems across extreme environments (−40° C to 55° C) and under shock, vibration, thermal and aerodynamic loads. To reduce reliance on external analysis, speed development, and control costs, RRS adopted SolidWorks — specifically SolidWorks Simulation Premium and SolidWorks Flow Simulation integrated into their SolidWorks CAD environment.

Using SolidWorks’ integrated simulation tools, RRS moved analysis in‑house to predict behavior before building hardware, cutting development time by up to 50%, reducing prototyping and testing costs by 30–60%, producing some projects with a single successful prototype, and halving component weight in cases — all of which expanded market opportunities and increased profit margins. SolidWorks’ combined FEA and flow capabilities enabled RRS to optimize designs for reliability, cost and performance across new applications.
