A SolidWorks Case Study
Watershot, Inc., a designer and manufacturer of underwater camera housings, faced growing demand for more sophisticated, compact, lightweight housings that could accept multiple lenses and be produced without costly prototypes. Owner Steve Ogles turned to SolidWorks 3D CAD software to increase design accuracy and efficiency and to eliminate prototype-driven iterations.
Using SolidWorks, Watershot, Inc. modeled entire camera assemblies, developed an innovative gear tower mechanism, and leveraged SolidWorks Simulation and CAM integration to validate pressure ratings and generate toolpaths. The SolidWorks solution cut the design cycle by 50%, reduced design errors by 95%, enabled production of the Watershot A35-3 Bluewater Housing without a single prototype, and improved collaboration using eDrawings.
