Microsoft Surface and SOLIDWORKS Transform how Ringbrothers Build Hot Rods

Ringbrothers, a 15-person automotive restoration and customization shop from Spring Green, Wisconsin, was tasked by Prestone to redesign and build a 1972 AMC Javelin for SEMA with a very tight timeline and a goal to go fully digital. To meet that challenge they adopted SolidWorks (using SolidWorks 2018) on Microsoft Surface devices to move from napkin sketches to fully detailed digital assemblies and prototypes.

Using SolidWorks 2018 on Surface Book 2 and Surface Studio, the team created renderings, designed parts for 3D printing, and iterated in real time with touch, Surface Pen and Surface Dial, streamlining collaboration across the shop. The SolidWorks-powered workflow let Ringbrothers complete the Javelin in less than 10 months, handle power‑intensive CAD workloads smoothly, shorten time to market, and deliver higher-quality, production-ready components.
