A SolidWorks Case Study
Matrix Automation Group, Inc., a builder of custom assembly, packaging, and production machinery, faced long lead times and costly fabrication errors because its 2D AutoCAD workflow couldn’t catch complex design issues or compress redesign cycles. To deliver more affordable automation equipment faster, Matrix looked for a 3D solution and selected SolidWorks CAD software.
Using SolidWorks CAD software (and PhotoWorks for photorealistic renderings), Matrix moved to full 3D modeling with interference and collision detection, quick multi-view generation, AutoCAD file export with layered annotations, and configurable assemblies that let engineers adapt past projects rapidly. The switch cut design time from 16 weeks to a few days, reduced time to generate multiple isometric views to under one minute, improved project margins, and gave Matrix greater flexibility in competitive pricing.
