Case Study: Konica Minolta achieves market-leading 50 ppm color all-in-one performance and faster product development with SolidWorks

A SolidWorks Case Study

Preview of the Konica Minolta Case Study

Introducing the best-in-class, color all-in-one system with SolidWorks software

Konica Minolta needed to develop a market-leading color all-in-one printer (the Model 8050 / bizhub PRO C500) that would jump from single-digit ppm to 50 ppm while fitting four times as many components into a compact footprint. To meet these aggressive performance and reliability goals the company selected the SolidWorks 3D CAD software system as its development platform.

Using SolidWorks, Konica Minolta reduced prototypes, shortened total development time, and resolved 70% of part interferences in digital mock-ups before releasing drawings; SolidWorks’ visualization also supported design reviews with more than 50 team members and enabled component optimization via partner analysis tools. The result was a top-performing 50 ppm flagship product that expanded into commercial printing and POD markets, and Konica Minolta has adopted SolidWorks for all future product development.
