Case Study: Altwork establishes a new multi-posture workstation category with SOLIDWORKS

A SolidWorks Case Study

Preview of the Altwork Case Study

Innovating the multi-posture workstation of the future with SOLIDWORKS

Altwork, a team of experienced technology professionals, set out to develop, manufacture, and market an automated multi‑posture workstation that lets users sit, stand, recline, or collaborate without repositioning the computer. To realize this vision they used SolidWorks design and product data management tools (SOLIDWORKS Standard, SOLIDWORKS Professional, and SOLIDWORKS PDM Professional) to handle the complex blend of mechanical engineering, biomechanics, and industrial design.

Using SolidWorks, Altwork rapidly modeled, validated dynamic motion, and revised assemblies—managing about 800 parts and 12 major subassemblies—while streamlining collaboration with suppliers and consultants by sharing 3D models directly. The result was the Altwork Station, the first workstation that moves with the body, which established a new product category, sped prototype development, improved vendor interactions, and enabled marketing visuals before hardware existed.
