A SolidWorks Case Study
In-tech Gmbh, a global engineering company that develops electronic systems for automotive testing, needed to redesign its orangeSwitch automated switching system to be a modular, standard product that reduced custom work, improved quality and appearance, and shortened delivery lead times. To achieve this, In-tech turned to SolidWorks electromechanical tools—using SolidWorks 3D mechanical CAD together with SOLIDWORKS Electrical and SOLIDWORKS PCB—to replace the previous hand‑wired, prototype‑dependent approach.
By using integrated SolidWorks mechanical, electrical, and electronic design solutions, In-tech redesigned the orangeSwitch as a modular system (with only the cable harness requiring customer‑specific changes), completed the design with no prototypes and a single revision, and reduced delivery lead times by 66% (from about 6–8 weeks to 2 weeks). The SolidWorks‑enabled redesign eliminated design errors and related support issues, improved product performance and appearance, and increased sales and profit margins.
