A SolidWorks Case Study
Vector Praxis, Inc., a Toronto-based architectural fabrication and construction firm, needed to speed up building design cycles and improve visualization and communication with tooling suppliers, architects, and partners. To address this, the company adopted SolidWorks 3D design, simulation, and product data management solutions (including SolidWorks Premium, Simulation Premium, Enterprise PDM, Composer, and eDrawings) to replace slower 2D workflows and accelerate development.
Using SolidWorks, Vector Praxis developed the VectorBloc cast‑steel connector modular system and cut design time by about 75%, going from concept to cut files in two weeks and saving approximately $100,000 in tooling and initial production costs through FEA-driven optimization. SolidWorks’ simulation, configuration, and visualization tools also improved communication with shops and partners, enabling faster prototyping, production, and a new scalable approach to HSS‑based modular construction.
