Case Study: Vermeer Corporation achieves streamlined machinery development and increased throughput with SolidWorks

A SolidWorks Case Study

Preview of the Vermeer Corporation Case Study

Increased development and production throughput with automated workflows

Vermeer Corporation, a global manufacturer of agricultural, forestry, excavating, mining, and drilling machinery, needed to accelerate machinery development and scale its product lines by streamlining and integrating design, manufacturing, purchasing, and documentation processes. To address this challenge, Vermeer turned to SolidWorks, adopting its 3D design platform along with simulation, Enterprise PDM (EPDM), SolidWorks Premium, and Composer solutions.

SolidWorks implemented an integrated solution — including 300 licenses of Enterprise PDM, additional SolidWorks Premium seats for early design analysis, and SolidWorks Composer for technical communication — and Vermeer used the SolidWorks API to automate design reviews and workflows. The outcome was automated, formalized engineering-change processes, improved product quality and documentation, and increased development and production throughput (supporting very large assemblies of up to ~10,000 parts) with faster, nearly fail‑safe ECN management.
