Improving tooling connectivity design and collaboration with SOLIDWORKS® solutions

Applied Robotics, Inc., a global provider of end-of-arm tooling and connectivity solutions, needed to improve how it handled both mechanical and electrical design. The company struggled with its previous Solid Edge/E3 toolset due to limited local support for electrical schematics and difficulty recruiting engineers familiar with that software, so in 2013 Applied Robotics evaluated and moved to SOLIDWORKS solutions.

Applied Robotics implemented SOLIDWORKS Premium for mechanical design and SOLIDWORKS Electrical Schematic for electrical design, creating a more integrated workflow that improved schematic quality, sped schematic development, and strengthened collaboration between electrical and mechanical teams. Using SOLIDWORKS (with local support from CADimensions), the company doubled the size of its engineering department through easier recruitment and realized cost‑effective documentation, faster assembly-ready designs, and measurable productivity gains.
