Improving technology education across Ireland with SolidWorks Education Edition

t4 Technology Subjects Support Service was tasked by the Irish Department of Education and Skills to modernize technology education for students aged 12–18 across 550 second-level schools, making 3D parametric CAD a compulsory teaching tool to better prepare students for careers in engineering, construction and design. To meet this challenge they selected SolidWorks, using SolidWorks Education Edition for its ease of use and classroom readiness.

t4 implemented SolidWorks Education Edition across schools with pre-imaged workstations and a phased teacher professional development program; SolidWorks supplied 25,000 licenses plus student kits, giving 142,000 students access to 3D CAD and enabling training for 1,410 teachers. The SolidWorks deployment significantly improved geometry comprehension, increased project-based learning, and better prepared students for technical careers across Ireland.
