A SolidWorks Case Study
Shred‑Tech, a global leader in designing and manufacturing shredding and recycling systems, faced inefficiencies and inconsistencies in its electrical system design—electrical designers were using AutoCAD alongside SOLIDWORKS mechanical tools, which led to long BOM generation times and drawing/BOM errors. To address this, Shred‑Tech added SOLIDWORKS Electrical Schematics to its SOLIDWORKS mechanical design installation from SolidWorks.
By implementing SOLIDWORKS Electrical Schematics (and planning to leverage SOLIDWORKS Premium for automated wiring and cabling), SolidWorks helped Shred‑Tech cut electrical BOM generation from five days to about four hours, reduce electrical panel footprints by 10%, and minimize schematic and BOM errors—enabling faster ordering, the use of junior designers for tasks once reserved for seniors, and anticipated additional time savings through automated routing.
