IF-Adamas – Advancing 3D Printing Technology with SOLIDWORKS

IF-Adamas, a Netherlands-based "idea factory," develops high-precision 3D printers such as the 3DDrop to produce working prototypes from challenging materials. The company needed a CAD and simulation solution to pack advanced functionality into a compact, manufacturable machine and to speed design iterations and marketing—so it turned to SolidWorks (including SolidWorks Simulation and photorealistic rendering tools).

Using SolidWorks, IF-Adamas optimized every millimetre of the 3DDrop, enabling quick revisions, shaving millimetres off the sheet-metal frame without losing strength, and reducing cost, material use, size and weight. SolidWorks’ simulation and rendering capabilities also accelerated time-to-market and marketing production by providing photorealistic images from the design files, eliminating the need for costly product photography.
