Yamabiko Europe, the world leader in robotic lawn mowers, needed to design an autonomous machine capable of maintaining large sports pitches reliably in any weather while cutting waste, reducing human labour and avoiding costly physical prototypes. To achieve this they used SolidWorks 3D CAD software to develop their flagship Bigmow.

Using SolidWorks, Yamabiko Europe simulated material behavior, performed virtual stress testing and iterated designs quickly, which eliminated multiple physical prototypes and enabled a lightweight, more maneuverable engine. The result is the Bigmow — deployed worldwide to deliver consistent, professional-quality turf with reduced waste, lower labour requirements and improved transportability.
