How SOWtech Sizzles with SOLIDWORKS

SOWtech, a Cambridge-based NGO (Sustainable OneWorld Technologies) that delivers low-cost sanitation and relief to crisis-hit communities, needed to design a bespoke Flexigester biogas system for Namisu, Malawi under strict budget and feasibility constraints. To move beyond pencil-and-paper sketches and avoid costly on-site mistakes, SOWtech turned to SolidWorks 3D CAD software for detailed modeling, material rendering and cost estimation.

Using SolidWorks, the team produced precise 3D models, high-fidelity renders and a Bill of Materials to optimize the Flexigester design and prototype virtually, minimizing risk and cost. The outcome was the successful delivery of the first community-based Flexigester in Namisu—installed in hours—providing cooking biogas, pasteurised fertiliser and improved sanitation while meeting tight budget requirements and accelerating project deployment.
