How SOLIDWORKS Laid a Solid Base for Baser

Baser, a German designer of patented parasol bases, needed a way to design a slender, adaptable base that could reliably support different parasol sizes and withstand variables like distance, weight, height and placement. To solve complex engineering and material-selection questions without costly trial-and-error, Baser turned to SolidWorks—using SolidWorks 3D CAD (through the Entrepreneur & Startups program) to create and iterate detailed designs and virtual prototypes.

SolidWorks provided 3D CAD, visualization and simulation tools plus a free year of access and training, enabling Baser to run lifelike stress tests, optimize materials, and make rapid design changes with a few clicks. The result was faster development, simplified virtual prototyping, and dramatically reduced reliance on expensive physical prototypes—lowering development costs and helping Baser scale its product and compete more effectively in the market.
