How SolidWorks Helps Defenture With Military Precision

Defenture, a Dutch designer of specialised light and armoured vehicles for military and law‑enforcement use, faced the challenge of delivering an air‑transportable tactical vehicle (ATTV) with extreme off‑road manoeuvrability (including a patented four‑wheel steering system) and highly specific, lightweight yet strong components like an S‑shaped composite exhaust. To meet tight functional and production requirements while avoiding duplicated effort across R&D, engineering and marketing, Defenture turned to SolidWorks for design, simulation and data management support.

Using SolidWorks 3D CAD together with SolidWorks Simulation, Defenture stress‑tested and optimised complex parts (perfecting the exhaust in‑model before any prototype), while SolidWorks PDM centralized designs so the same validated data served multiple departments and SolidWorks Composer exported designs straight into technical manuals. The result, delivered with SolidWorks’ tools, was a nimble, combat‑ready ATTV with reduced prototyping, slashed production time and minimized waste thanks to streamlined cross‑department workflows.
