A SolidWorks Case Study
HVD, the Belgian manufacturer of professional waffle irons dating back to 1922, faced growing demand for a wide variety of waffle shapes, regional size standards and bespoke customer designs while needing to shorten development cycles and speed time‑to‑market. To address this, HVD adopted SolidWorks (including SolidWorks Composer) to bring its decades of dimensional data into a unified 3D design platform.
Using SolidWorks, HVD turned its measurements into reusable CAD templates, enabling rapid creation of bespoke models for different regions and customized shapes (even monogrammed irons), which has cut development time markedly and greatly increased design flexibility. SolidWorks Composer lets HVD produce photorealistic images and exploded drawings for documentation and marketing, allowing promotion and technical materials to be prepared before parts are manufactured.
