How Copenhagen Suborbitals Took Off

Copenhagen Suborbitals, an open‑source team designing a manned suborbital rocket and capsule, needed CAD, simulation and manufacturing-ready outputs to design, test and produce flight‑worthy hardware. To meet those challenges they turned to SolidWorks, using SolidWorks Professional, SolidWorks Premium and SolidWorks Flow Simulation to create and analyze capsule geometry and prepare production drawings.

SolidWorks enabled the team to build the capsule geometry, export laser‑cut drawings, and run FEM and flow simulations to verify structures against flight requirements, while sketching tools supported early R&D and production phases. Using SolidWorks eDrawings the project also shared designs for community feedback—resulting in validated designs, manufacturing‑ready documentation and streamlined collaboration.
