Case Study: RDM Group achieves accelerated development and realistic simulation of driverless L‑SAT pods with SOLIDWORKS

A SolidWorks Case Study

Preview of the RDM Group Case Study

How Cities are Driving Towards a Smarter Future

RDM Group, a British engineering firm developing low-speed autonomous transport (L‑SAT) pods, needed to rapidly iterate designs and validate vehicle behavior and sensor integration for safe short-distance passenger and cargo transport in urban settings. To meet this challenge, RDM Group used SOLIDWORKS 3D from SolidWorks to draft concepts, manipulate design iterations and simulate how its pods would move and respond in the real world.

SolidWorks’ modeling and simulation tools enabled RDM Group to accelerate design cycles, validate motion and sensor/chassis interactions before building physical prototypes, and reduce development risk as it moves toward deployment in smart‑city environments. By using SolidWorks, RDM Group was able to refine its pods more quickly and reliably, helping advance their readiness for further testing and integration into connected transport networks.
