Headkayse Improves Cyclist Safety with Folding Helmet

Headkayse set out to rethink cyclist safety and convenience by creating a folding, one‑size‑fits‑all helmet that’s compact enough to carry but still offers multi‑impact protection. To design a soft yet resilient product that could flatten for storage without compromising safety, Headkayse turned to SolidWorks and its 3D design and simulation tools.

Using SolidWorks for virtual prototyping, material simulation and precision tooling checks, the team refined the helmet’s geometry and performance without wasting materials. The result is a helmet that flattens by 70% to just 5 cm wide (cutting volume from 5 L to 2.5 L), meets global safety standards, sold out its initial batch and exceeded its Indiegogo target (raising £90,000), demonstrating SolidWorks’ measurable impact on speed, cost and product performance.
