Growing a Drone Development and Simulation Consulting Business with 3DEXPERIENCE Works Simulation Solutions

AirView Robotics Pvt. Ltd., an Indian unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) developer and simulation consulting firm, needed to scale its drone simulation and analysis services and improve its own drone performance without transporting a bulky high-end workstation. Working with SolidWorks, the company moved from an on-prem SOLIDWORKS/Ansys setup to cloud-based 3DEXPERIENCE Works simulation tools — including SIMULIA Durability and Mechanics Engineer and Fluid Dynamics Engineer roles on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform — to gain mobile, flexible access to advanced simulation capabilities.

Using SolidWorks’ 3DEXPERIENCE Works cloud simulations, AirView ran structural, vibration, impact and CFD studies that cut an agricultural drone’s weight by 10 pounds, doubled flight time to about 30 minutes, and reduced manufacturing costs tenfold; the Krishi 2.0 reached DGCA certification in six months. The cloud workflow eliminated the need to transport a workstation and helped grow simulation and analysis consulting to roughly 60% of AirView Robotics’ revenue.
