Growing a Design, Tooling, and Manufacturing Company With SolidWorks and Stratasys Solutions

Solaxis Ingenious Manufacturing, Inc sought to launch and grow a prototype production, tooling development, and direct digital manufacturing business that could deliver fast turnarounds and high precision for aerospace, ground transportation, defense, robotics and manufacturing customers. To meet this challenge the company selected SolidWorks design and analysis tools (SOLIDWORKS Professional and SOLIDWORKS Premium) as the CAD/FEA foundation to accelerate design, validation and production.

By combining SolidWorks Professional and Premium with Stratasys Fortus 900mc/400mc 3D printing, Solaxis cut tooling development cycles by about 75% (from 12–14 weeks to three weeks), reduced a 150 lb jig to 28 lb — saving four seconds per cycle (~15% productivity) — and grew tooling and 3D‑printed production parts to roughly 20% each of revenue while reducing material use, scrap and rework. SolidWorks’ design and simulation tools enabled faster iteration, lightweighting and FEA-driven optimization that produced measurable time, cost and safety improvements.
