A SolidWorks Case Study
Howard-Suamico School District wanted to modernize its Technology and Engineering Program by giving every student exposure to 3D CAD and creating meaningful partnerships with local manufacturers. To meet that challenge the district selected SolidWorks, deploying SolidWorks Education Edition along with The CAD Academy curriculum to move from 2D drafting to a parametric 3D platform that mirrors industry tools.
By implementing SolidWorks Education Edition and The CAD Academy, HSSD introduced required Exploratory Engineering in middle school, accelerated high‑school coursework, and enabled students to take the Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA) exam. SolidWorks helped drive measurable gains—Introduction to Engineering enrollment rose to about 175 students, Pre‑Engineering to 50–95, partnerships with companies like Paper Converting Machine Company, Georgia‑Pacific and Carver Yachts were established, and students graduate with industry‑recognized CAD skills and real project experience.
