Gilo Industries partnered with SolidWorks to bring a motorized surf experience to more people, but needed a robust hard-shell travel case for its Mako jetboard and a way to crowdsource innovative case designs. SolidWorks leveraged its CAD platform (SOLIDWORKS 2015 or later) and community to address that design challenge.

SolidWorks ran a global design contest inviting engineers and designers to submit SOLIDWORKS-based case designs (Oct 11–Dec 15, 2017), offering a Mako jetboard as the prize. The initiative generated community engagement, amplified Gilo Industries’ product visibility, and accelerated case design options by tapping the SOLIDWORKS user base—boosting adoption and showcasing practical applications of SolidWorks tools.
