A SolidWorks Case Study
Full Sail University, through its Simulation & Visualization program, needed a way to help students build practical skills in design, programming, and critical thinking for an evolving workforce. Using SolidWorks alongside other tools, student Jaime Soto tackled a final project that combined mechanical design, 3D printing, laser cutting, and Unity-based visualization to create a miniature Stewart platform and an interactive gaming experience.
SolidWorks helped Jaime test kinematic motion before production and determine how the platform should move in each of its six degrees of freedom. The resulting build used an Arduino Pro Mini, custom controls, and a Unity integration to sync physical input with on-screen action, enabling a working remote-controlled experience with sandbox and challenge modes. The project demonstrated how SolidWorks can support hands-on learning, rapid prototyping, and complex mechatronic integration in education.
