Swagelok Company, a precision fluid system component manufacturer, needed to modernize its product design process to shorten time-to-market and lower development costs. In 1997 Swagelok chose SolidWorks software as the newer 3D solid-modeling solution to improve design efficiency, support complex curved shapes, and accelerate entry into new markets such as biotech and pharmaceuticals.

Using SolidWorks software (with parametric and assembly modeling, photorealistic renderings, integrated CFD/FEA analysis, and SmarTeam PDM), Swagelok standardized engineering data enterprise-wide, eliminated many build-and-test cycles, and sped validation. The SolidWorks-based solution enabled Swagelok to engineer a new product line in under a year, achieve a reported 100% reduction in time-to-market, reduce costs and lead times, and strengthen engineering controls.
