Case Study: Satlantic Inc achieves 25–30% faster modeling and improved partner collaboration with SolidWorks

A SolidWorks Case Study

Preview of the Satlantic Inc Case Study

Expediting aquatic sensor and instrument development with SolidWorks software

Satlantic Inc., a leading manufacturer of oceanographic and aquatic sensors, struggled to collaborate efficiently with research institutions and suppliers because most partners used SolidWorks while Satlantic was working in Autodesk Inventor. The company faced time-consuming file conversions, compatibility issues and stability problems (including lost work from crashes), so it evaluated and moved to SolidWorks 3D CAD software to better align with its customers and partners.

Satlantic implemented SolidWorks Professional from SolidWorks, adopting features such as large-assembly handling, design configurations and IDF import for PCB integration along with SimulationXpress for analysis. As a result, SolidWorks eliminated the need for file translation, integrated mechanical and electrical design data, and cut modeling time by about 25–30%, producing a measurable boost in productivity and smoother collaboration with partners.
