A SolidWorks Case Study
NuQuest, a Utah-based design automation, systems development, and metals fabrication firm, needed to automate development processes, introduce innovative products, and grow its product line. To meet that challenge NuQuest standardized on SolidWorks—using SolidWorks Premium design and analysis software and SolidWorks Subscription Services—as its core 3D development platform for design, analysis, and ongoing technical support and training.
With SolidWorks, NuQuest rapidly developed and refined products such as the Nucleus automated vertical grinding system and the Bit Flipper accessory, extending grinding-wheel life tenfold, improving operator safety, and enabling safer handling of drill bits weighing up to 500 pounds. SolidWorks also helped optimize a skeleton sled (using a Kinect body scan for a custom saddle) that contributed to Noelle Pikus‑Pace’s 2014 Olympic silver medal; Subscription Services provided updates, support, and training that accelerated iterations and measurable product and manufacturing improvements.
