Nectar Product Development, an award-winning product design and engineering consultancy, needed a way to support its collaborative, multidisciplinary design process while meeting aggressive performance and cost targets for clients—most notably Amonix’s MegaModule® pedestal-mounted solar panel. To do this, Nectar standardized on SolidWorks, using SolidWorks Premium for design and SolidWorks Simulation Premium for integrated analysis to drive creative, production-ready solutions.

Using SolidWorks Simulation Premium inside the CAD system, Nectar ran more than 100 structural, fatigue, buckling, and deflection studies to optimize the MegaModule support structure. SolidWorks-enabled redesigns cut manufacturing costs by 24%, reduced material, components, and welds, accelerated tooling development, and helped Nectar develop products five to ten times faster while maintaining required performance under wind, snow, seismic, humidity, and temperature loads.
