Designing robots with solidworks education edition

Lycee Colbert Lorient is a multidisciplinary high school in Lorient, France, serving over 1,200 students that runs an interdisciplinary robotics program for 10th graders to teach English, electronics, mechanics and computing and to prepare teams for international competitions. To give students an industry-style CAD and simulation workflow, the school adopted SolidWorks and specifically the SOLIDWORKS Education Edition to teach 3D design, assembly, and validation while conducting the project in English.

Using SOLIDWORKS Education Edition, teachers implemented a three-phase curriculum—software training, part and assembly design, then validation and manufacturing—so students could model, simulate e-card integration, and build competition robots. The SolidWorks-enabled program delivered measurable outcomes: multiple competition wins (including Robofiesta), two gold medals at the World Robot Olympiad, participation in RoboGames and other international events, and about 80% of participating students progressing toward engineering careers.
