A SolidWorks Case Study
Zero Zone, Inc., a leading manufacturer of display coolers, freezers, and refrigerated cases, faced the challenge of designing large, sheet‑metal–heavy assemblies with multiple size configurations using 2D tools. After an intern demonstrated the advantages of 3D modeling, Zero Zone evaluated options and standardized on SolidWorks software (including SolidWorks Premium) to improve ease of use, configuration management, sheet‑metal functionality, and compatibility with other engineering tools.
Using SolidWorks, Zero Zone implemented model configurations, sheet‑metal tools, interference checking, and complementary modules (Simulation, Flow Simulation, PhotoWorks, eDrawings), enabling faster design validation and reduced physical prototyping. As a result of the SolidWorks solution, the company cut its design cycle by 66% (from nine to three months), increased sales 335% (3,724 to 12,500 cases/year), reduced ECO processing by 85%, and lowered prototype counts by 78%, while enabling customized build‑to‑order delivery in four to six weeks.
