Delivering configurable warning lights with SolidWorks software

Weldon Technologies, Inc., a maker of lighting and electrical control systems for specialty vehicles, faced rising competition and needed to streamline its design process to deliver configurable, reliable warning lights faster. To enable parametric optical design and maintain compatibility with legacy data, Weldon evaluated several systems and chose SolidWorks 3D CAD software.

Using SolidWorks, Weldon implemented parametric modeling and configurations to develop a configurable family of warning lights from a single design, speeding prototyping and custom order fulfillment. The SolidWorks-based solution shortened design cycles by about 25% (with potential up to 50%), reduced analysis time by 20%, improved product confidence by 25%, and cut field assembly time from 90 to 60 days.
