Creating rich 3D content with SolidWorks Composer

3DMP (3D Marketing & Production), a French multimedia and audiovisual firm serving clients such as Airbus, Snecma and CFM International, needed to produce highly realistic 3D and interactive product content for marketing and documentation. The challenge was to derive photorealistic graphics and animations from very large CAD models while minimizing data-transfer errors and lengthy preparation time, so 3DMP adopted SolidWorks Composer from vendor SolidWorks to address these needs.

Using SolidWorks Composer (and the Composer Player Pro), SolidWorks enabled 3DMP to import, optimize and render complex assemblies directly from design offices, produce interactive and paper-based deliverables in common image formats, and work with entire engines without asking designers to break down models. The results: transfer time for heavy models dropped by up to 90%, one person can handle even the most complex projects, and 3DMP can deliver content earlier in the design cycle and take on more projects with existing resources.
