A SolidWorks Case Study
CoolChip Technologies, a thermal-solutions start-up, set out to make electronics cooling quieter, lighter, smaller and more power efficient by combining the fan and heat sink into a patented Kinetic Cooling Engine. To move from concept to OEM-ready prototypes across diverse design spaces, CoolChip needed faster R&D, flexible parametric design and clear visual communications — capabilities they accessed through SolidWorks tools while at Greentown Labs.
Using the SolidWorks development platform (including standard parts libraries, configurations, parametric design tools, SolidWorks Simulation and PhotoView 360), CoolChip accelerated prototyping, validated stresses and forces, and produced photorealistic renderings for partners and marketing. SolidWorks helped shorten design cycle times and lead-times, improve collaboration, and support CoolChip’s progress toward high-volume commercial applications for multiple OEM customers.
