Case Study: Maker Faire achieves rapid 3D printing innovation with SolidWorks

A SolidWorks Case Study

Preview of the Maker Faire Case Study

Catching up with the SolidWorks community at Maker Faire NYC

Maker Faire brought together a wide community of makers, students and small businesses showcasing 3D printers, robots and rapid-prototyping projects—and needed reliable, easy-to-use design tools to turn concepts into working products onsite. SolidWorks was visible throughout the event, with makers demonstrating designs created in SolidWorks Premium, using the SolidWorks Part Library and the SolidWorks 3D printing add-on to speed development and streamline workflows.

SolidWorks enabled rapid prototyping and higher customer compatibility: BlackPoint Engineering designed its Orion 3D printer using SolidWorks Premium in under a week, and re:3D reported that 95% of its customers use SolidWorks thanks to the Part Library. SolidWorks also engaged the community directly with a demo of the 3D printing add-on at the Microsoft tent, reinforcing faster design cycles, broader adoption and stronger maker-vendor collaboration.
