Caloi Improving the Development of Cycling Products with 3DEXPERIENCE Works SIMULIA Solutions

CALOI, a century-old Brazilian bicycle manufacturer, needed to shorten design and physical prototyping cycles and cut development costs to accelerate time to market and stay competitive. Working with SolidWorks, CALOI sought to augment its existing SOLIDWORKS CAD workflow with cloud-based simulation, data management and collaboration tools—adding 3DEXPERIENCE Works product development capabilities and 3DEXPERIENCE SIMULIA simulation solutions to replace much of its costly physical testing.

By implementing the SolidWorks-integrated 3DEXPERIENCE Works and SIMULIA roles, CALOI moved much of its validation into the cloud, compressing design cycles from two months to two weeks and shortening time to market by 25 percent. The solution cut development and prototyping costs in half, reduced design errors and related scrap/rework by 50 percent, removed the need for heavy local hardware, and enabled faster, higher-quality design and marketing deliverables.
