Benjamin Weir - Customer Case Study

Benjamin Weir, a 20-year-old product design student at the University of the West of England, needed a precise CAD workflow to take concept sketches through detailed models, renders and physical prototypes for university briefs and brand-focused projects. To meet that need he used SolidWorks (SOLIDWORKS) for precision 3D modeling, rendering and design-for-manufacture work.

Using SolidWorks, Benjamin produced detailed renders (for example, a spirally glass design), engineered a functional wooden wireless charging block by remodelling housings for off‑the‑shelf circuitry, and created 3D‑printed handles for a patient-transfer strap—turning concepts into manufacturable prototypes. The SolidWorks-enabled workflow improved design accuracy, accelerated prototyping (CNC and 3D printing-ready files), and helped him build a stronger portfolio to show to brands and prospective employers while pursuing internships.
