Beating back an onslaught of overseas competition with SolidWorks

Reman Engineering Works, based in Namakkal, India, manufactures poultry feed mills, batching machines, silos and related sheet‑metal and structural components. Facing inconsistent 2D designs that led to rework and raw‑material waste, Reman Engineering Works moved to 3D after a demo and implemented SolidWorks (including Weldments, Hole Wizard, Smart Fasteners, PhotoView 360 and eDrawings) to standardize designs and prevent waste.

Using SolidWorks to create fully associated parts, assemblies and drawings, Reman standardized structural components with Weldments cut‑lists and complete BOMs, used Hole Wizard and Smart Fasteners to simplify assembly, and leveraged PhotoView 360 and eDrawings to improve customer communication. The SolidWorks implementation produced clear cut‑list properties and detailed manufacturing drawings, eliminated raw‑material waste, reduced rework, improved manufacturing efficiency and attracted greater customer interest.
