A SolidWorks Case Study
Bristol-Myers Squibb Company’s Discovery Automation Group designs custom, often one-of-a-kind laboratory and research equipment that scientists cannot buy off the shelf. The team needed a faster, easier-to-learn 3D CAD solution to shorten slow, tedious design cycles and reduce costs, so after evaluating options they selected SolidWorks 3D CAD (later upgrading to SolidWorks Professional) to meet those needs.
SolidWorks implemented six seats of its software and the group added SolidWorks PDM and eDrawings to manage data and improve communication with scientists. As a result, SolidWorks helped BMS shorten design cycles by 75%, boost equipment quality, improve documentation and revision control, increase design reuse, and speed review and vendor communication.
