A SolidWorks Case Study
Atomik Cars, a small Parisian team of auto industry veterans, set out to transform the Fiat 500 into an electric city supercar. Faced with the challenge of removing the gasoline engine and drivetrain, fitting two independent electric motors, and designing networked battery packs that improve safety while preserving rear seats and trunk space, Atomik turned to SolidWorks for CAD-driven design and engineering support.
Using SolidWorks, Atomik redesigned its custom battery packs to raise the safety factor and pack more than 30 kWh of energy without sacrificing interior or cargo space, and engineered the dual-motor drivetrain integration. The SolidWorks-enabled solution delivered measurable performance: 0–60 mph in under five seconds, a top speed over 121 mph and a 130-mile range, all while maintaining passenger and trunk usability.
