A SolidWorks Case Study
Athlete FA Corporation, a maker of mechatronics control FA equipment in the electronics industry, faced a critical challenge: existing mechatronics simulators did not support the control hardware they use, leaving them at risk of falling behind competitors. To address this, they adopted SolidWorks’ mechatronics control simulator (Vmech Simulator) with XVL data import and spent a year validating and customizing the simulator interface to incorporate Athlete FA’s design rules and device movements.
Using SolidWorks’ solution, Athlete FA can now multitask virtual prototypes of 3,000–5,000 parts, dramatically shortening prototype debugging and reducing the need for on-site corrective responses. The Vmech-based virtual prototype debugging eliminated many hardware/software bugs at the simulation stage, enabled safe testing of operator errors that would be destructive on real machines, and improved developer and designer productivity and overall operational effectiveness.
