American Seating Helps Fenway Park Stay Authentic With Help from SolidWorks

American Seating was tasked with renovating 12,000 worn, century‑old seats at Boston’s Fenway Park while preserving the ballpark’s historic look and feel. To meet that challenge without replacing the seating en masse, American Seating relied on SolidWorks design technology to develop a retrofit that respected the original materials and geometry.

Using SolidWorks, American Seating engineered solutions that left the original cast‑iron frames in place, retained more than 50% of the original wood, and added springs to improve egress and comfort. The SolidWorks‑driven redesign allowed all 12,000 seats to be renovated with minimal visual change to Fenway’s iconic interior while improving usability for fans.
