Advancing underground mining equipment development with SOLIDWORKS® Simulation Premium

Resemin, a Lima‑based manufacturer of underground drilling machinery, faced the challenge of accelerating development cycles while ensuring operator safety under the ISO 3449 FOPS standard. After initially running FEA in ANSYS, Resemin moved to a 3D SolidWorks platform (implementing SOLIDWORKS Premium in 2008 and later SOLIDWORKS Simulation Premium) to speed creation of 3D geometry and run the complex nonlinear analyses required for falling‑object protection.

Using SolidWorks solutions — including SolidWorks Simulation Premium, SolidWorks PDM Professional, Composer, Inspection and other SolidWorks tools — Resemin cut nonlinear analysis time from two days to about two hours, reduced prototyping by 70%, halved delivery times and increased production from about 2 machines per year to 60 annually, demonstrating substantial productivity and safety validation gains from the SolidWorks implementation.
