Case Study: Kavlico achieves smaller, lighter sensors and faster product development with SOLIDWORKS

A SolidWorks Case Study

Preview of the Kavlico Case Study

Advancing sensor and transducer development with solidworks solutions

Kavlico, a manufacturer of pressure, position, and force sensors for automotive, aerospace, industrial, and medical customers, faced growing market pressure to deliver smaller, lighter, and more durable sensors that perform in rugged environments. To move beyond 2D workflows and meet tighter clearances, tolerances, and harsher operating conditions, Kavlico adopted SolidWorks design and simulation solutions, including SolidWorks Professional, SolidWorks Simulation Premium, and SolidWorks Composer.

Using SolidWorks’ 3D design, mold development, and simulation tools, Kavlico streamlined mold development (saving eight to ten weeks), halved product weight, reduced product size by 40%, and doubled its product offerings while lowering part count and assembly complexity. SolidWorks’ integrated analysis and mold tools also enabled faster iterations, improved vibration and thermal performance, and more reliable launches, delivering measurable time, cost, and performance gains.
