A SolidWorks Case Study
Ccty Bearing Co, a designer and manufacturer of high-performance bearings and custom assemblies, faced long development and delivery lead-times, poor communication with customers and its China manufacturing plant, and excessive prototyping that slowed innovation—especially for new products like its patent-pending Square Ball Universal Joint. To address these challenges Ccty Bearing Co implemented SolidWorks 3D design and simulation solutions, including SOLIDWORKS Professional, SOLIDWORKS Premium and SOLIDWORKS Simulation Premium.
Using SolidWorks, Ccty significantly shortened development and delivery lead-times, reduced prototyping requirements and improved prototype quality; the company cut the Square Ball Universal Joint design cycle by two to three times and reduced the U-joint’s component count from about 115 to six. SolidWorks’ integrated simulation and visualization tools also improved communication with customers and manufacturing partners and enabled weight and performance optimizations that typically get the design right on the first prototype.
